Have a look on the latest Advent Porches timetable to find angels near you.

ADVENT ANGELS in church porch calendars…

The Aylsham & District Team Ministry is launching its “Advent Calendar” event using our beautiful church porches.

Each day throughout December a different church will open their doors to reveal an Advent Angel installation. Back in 2008 a church in Brighton had the bright idea to turn 24 of the wonderful beach huts on the Brighton and Hove seafront into a large-scale Advent Calendar. It turned into an annual event, with a different theme each time, finally closing in 2018.

We now follow in their inspirational path as we bring this to life in eighteen churches and two schools which work together in our Team Benefice.

Local schools, organisations, artists and church families will be celebrating all God’s gifts as they work together to produce twenty thought-provoking installations in this inspirational season leading up to Christmas. We will be seeking to remind people of the true meaning of Advent and Christmas, as they take the opportunity to pause for thought and reflection in what is always a busy time.

Each church will be offering something different.  There will be a schedule of openings on our website, social media platforms and posters. You can look forward to the delights of the festive season with mince pies, mulled wine, hot chocolate, carols and so much more.

Have you ever wondered what you would look like as an angel? Well, come along and find out, as our life-size silver angel wings designed so that you can have your photo taken in front of them will be doing the rounds. To make it really special why not dress for the occasion!

Team Rector, the Rev Canon Julie Boyd has this to say:

“Our porches are doorways and entrances to our church buildings and schools.  As you follow the Advent Angels around the Aylsham & District Team Ministry this December you will be warmly welcomed and invited to discover more of the riches of the season as we get ready to welcome the Christ Child in our Christmas celebrations”
